Fall trip with a motorhome: Szántód and Tihany with Sloveniacamper

In the fall, our family – myself, my wife, our daughter, and our dog Luna – set off on an unforgettable motorhome trip to the town of Szántód by Lake Balaton. We’ve always enjoyed exploring new places, and this time we wanted to experience the autumn-colored landscapes and the peaceful atmosphere by Central Europe's largest lake.

First stop: Szántód and the shore of Lake Balaton

After a pleasant drive, we arrived in Szántód, which is primarily known as the starting point for the ferry to the Tihany Peninsula. We parked the motorhome in a well-organized parking area near the shore and took a stroll along the lake. The autumn colors of the trees reflecting on the calm surface of the water created a magical atmosphere. Luna immediately began exploring every corner of the shoreline, while my wife and I enjoyed the fresh air, and our daughter tossed small stones into the water.

When we reached Tihany, we were greeted by a stunning view of the lake. We walked through the historic center and visited the famous Benedictine Abbey, which offers a beautiful panoramic view of Lake Balaton. Since the day was unusually warm for autumn, we treated ourselves to ice cream and sat on a bench, enjoying the sunshine.

Return and conclusion of the perfect weekend

After exploring Tihany, we headed back to Szántód, where we spent the rest of the day by the lake, enjoying the silence of nature. Our motorhome provided us with all the comfort we needed, and there’s nothing better than sitting under the stars in the evening, reminiscing about the wonderful day.

This trip was one of those adventures that will stay in our hearts for a long time. Autumn by Lake Balaton has a special charm, especially when experienced in great company, on two (or four) wheels, and with a four-legged friend by your side.
